Valentine's Day Activities for Speech Therapy

Hi speechies!

Happy Valentine's Day! If you haven't gathered, I LOVE holiday-themed therapy in the speech room (: Valentine's Day is no exception. I wanted to share a few things that I did this year to celebrate the day of love!

Conversation Hearts Activity:

The image above shows you my conversation hearts social skills activity. This one was such a hit with the kids - it kept them so engaged and elicited so much language!

I printed out these conversation hearts and put them facedown on the ground. I played music and had the kiddos dance around the hearts. When the music stopped, whichever heart they were on, they had to read the question and answer it and then ask one other person in the room the same question.

Before we played, we talked about what makes a good conversation! You can scoop these hearts up in my TpT store.

Things I Love Direction Following Activity:

For my younger kiddos, I opted to go with this activity:

It's my following directions "Things I Love" drawing activity. Included is an instruction sheet that you read to the kiddos. So for example, step 1 could be draw a person you love. Step 2 could be draw a place that you love. Best part? NO PREP! You can also grab this product in my TpT Store.

Read Aloud:

We read The Day It Rained Hearts and I kiiiiind of went over the top:

I made this umbrella with rain drops and hearts dangling off of it! It was SUCH a hit with the kids and they loved getting to hold it when it was their turn to answer a question about the book.

What do you do for Valentine's Day? I'm always looking for new ideas!
